Default Where does Ford steering stop go?

I've had a problem with my aftermarket wheels (18 X 8 1/2) rubbing my after market A-arms, so I got a steering stop to put on my front suspension to possibly eliminate the problem. But after seeing the part, I can't figure out where to install it. No directions were available from Ford, and the guy behind the counter was worthless. So, here's the part number, 6R3Z-3932-CA; it's basically a round donut shapped plastic piece. In effect, looks like a ring you put on your finger. Way over priced for what it is and does. If you can help me by telling me where to install this little wonder, I will ever be greatful. Thanks, Jack.

A
pic would
be nice as
I know where
they go but have
never seen one in
person. They go on the
inner tie rods where they
exit the steering rack under
the rubber dust boots. Its
a PIA to install them and
get the boots back on
right. I will search for
the Ford steering
rack dust boot
removal/install
instructions.

All you need is the boot seal instructions.

There was a thread on one of the forums, pics and everything. You have to undo the inner dust boot, unbolt the INNER tie rod, slide the spacers on(one on each side), bolt everything back together, and have the alignment checked. I'll see if I can find it...

Default Here's pics of the steering stop

I ordered and picked up two steering stops today at Sarasota Ford here in town. Below is the photo of one. Very simple item made of a very hard plastic. I very much appreciate what you guys can come up with as far as install photos and instructions. Thanks, Jack.

Default tools & pieces needed to install steering stop

The pics below show the pieces I'll be replacing on the steering gear after I install the two steering stops that will allow me to put the big wheels back on my car with the BMR tubular a-arms. The steering stops will prevent or limit the travel of the steering gear to prevent the rims from rubbing the gussets on the back side of the a-arms. The two circular steering stops are in the middle of the photo. Since the car is now over 2 years old, I decided to replace the boots on the steering gear. I have to remove these to install the steering stops over the inner tie rods of the rack and pinion setup. You can also see the two small outer clamps and two large inner clamps needed to to secure the dust boots back in place. The pliers looking tool and the left is needed to secure the new inner boot clamps in place. Regular pliers can be used on the smaller outer clamps. The other two tools are used to remove the tie rod bolt connecting the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle and the big tube looking tool is used to remove and install the inner tie rods where the steering stops go. I'll put up pics of the actual install when I do it. Jack

Hello folks
I know this is resurrecting an old thread. I can’t seem to find any answers about this. Did you install the steering stops? I know you need special tools. I’m wondering if it would be beneficial to purchase the special tools and install my self or take it to a dealer or shop and have them install the stops. Any help with this would be appreciated.

I just bought new tires and wheels from AM (18x9.5). With them I also bought the Roush Steering Rack stops:

I also bought a some end nipper pliers from Home Depot for $10. Directions were clear and installation was easy. Took about 20 min all together. Hardest part was just making sure the clamps were tight enough without cutting through them with the nippers.
