depends on your plans for future mods. If you are staying bolt-on, a t-lok is probably the cheapest way to get two wheel peels. but an 8.8 takeoff isn't much more expensive and is sturdier.

All V6 models come without t-loc. Anyone who wants to make their V6 a performance car NEEDS it! If you dont, you've only got HALF the surface area of rubber putting power to the road! Also, since the V6 engine is totally bogged down by it's stock 3.31 gearing, installing 3.73 or 4.10 gearing as well as the t-loc is a "no-brainer" for the performance minded... then the engine runs in its powerband!

Personally, I found the replacement GT axle with both t-loc & 3.73 was the best solution. I highly recommend these mods!

get a t-lok with gears. you'll be glad you did and then wonder why ford didn't make it this way in the first place.

T-lok I can't understand why ford didn't make it with one (especially since it should only raise the price $100-$180 Tops). They didn't put higher ratio gears because of highway mpg ratings, fox bodies came with 2.73's if I remember correctly.

Get the t-lok and gears if you're looking for performance. If you're not looking for performance I would still suggest the t-lok. I have it and it works perfect, I'm even gonna run it with a turbo kit(gonna have over 370rwtorque at 11psi most likely) and see how it takes abuse from that every now and then. It should be fine for my DD and even that much torque because I read that buckman put his 7.5 t-lok through a lot of track passes and it lasted for a pretty impressive amount of time. BTW, I am an auto and autos are kinder to rear ends than sticks.

T-Lok ~ $200
Gears ~ $150
Install ~ $300
Total = $650

8.8 take-off rear ~ $800

8.8 is sturdier. Just that I've seen people say they wish they would have gone with the 8.8 in the first place instead of wasting money on the t-lok. Up to you though.
