Thanks

The trick is not the rim size, but the tire size you put on the rims. I went with the wider offset in the rear so it would have that old school muscle car look. I love the razors, you can't go wrong with them, but the fr500's are nice also.

Here are the specs of what I went with....

American Racing Razors - front: 40mm offset
American Racing Razors - rear: 24mm offset
Nitto 555 Extreme - front: 255/45 R18
Nitto 555 Extreme - rear: 285/40 R18

Really just depends on what you want. I went with 18's.

Do your research the shelby's weight 25.5lbs in 18". I wouldnt consider that light...17" svt pony rims are 21.6lbs. numbers from tirerack.com. just because they're 18" doesnt mean there light.

As for the rim itself, I like a few styles - I've kinda narrowed it down between the Razors on ODDYSEY's car, but in black or anthracite & FR500 style in same colors.

BTW does anyone know the width limit for our tires? I ask because I'm also considering going TOTALLY RETRO and mounting BF Goodrich Radial T/A's with raised white lettering, just like the "old school" Muscle cars!

American - I am going to miss the next cruise because I will be on a business trip. I am constantly back and forth on wheels, I think it is worse than picking FI.

Per your clutch I posted in the other thread.

Glad to assist man! Just post me some pics once you get them installed. The offset looks perfect for our cars and it's a really good-looking (on paper) super light wheel. I plan to get some soon.

And Potato, if you happen to find the weight rating on those Steeda ultralights let me know. If I remember right, they aren't so "light". Around 28lbs. ea(?)

Nice vette btw. I've been on the fence about trading in mine for a used one plus a truck/jeep, but we'll probably have a child in the next year or two. I keep trying to convince myself the Stang will stay in the family longer, especially since I saw that Simpson makes baby seats.

On topic though, iROK, you'd probably be better off with a smaller rim size assuming the 18's you choose aren't boulders. To step up to lighter forged wheels you'll spend money that could be better utilized on the eventual GT trade-in or for the performance enhancement on your v6. I likely wouldn't have purchased them myself; they were part of the package already on mine. I've seen some deep dish 18's that look pretty sick too. I want to say I've read that 315's can be tucked in the rear.

The actual difference may not be as much as some make it out to be. Assuming that you keep the tire OD (or more to the point, revs/mile) the same as OE instead of bumping that up as well. Stay away from steel/chrome.

I might even be able to run a simulation or three to put some numbers on this.
