Default gas guage going nuts?

05 stang coupe. Recently the gas guage has been just crazy. started out the guage would read about half tank, when i know it was full. Now the needle just points straight down all the time. When the key is off it even goes further counterclockwise. Someone told be that the sending unit in the tank maybe had sulfur deposits and to try a bottle of Techron and then a bottle of seafoam in the fuel. Tried both, neither worked.
suggestions? solutions?

thanks
Bob

Bob, have you noticed any moisture on your carpets? After a good rain, check the passenger side near the kick plate to see if your carpet is wet. There have been some issues with S197s leaking causing electrical problems. There is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on this.
