Default Slightly Wrecked...

Well Saturday I was following my friend to his house at about 11pm on a windy road and it was raining when a deer bolted out in front of me and I locked up the brakes because it was right near a sharp turn... To say the least the car wouldnt turn or stop and get going straight off the road into the woods... I just missed some giant pine trees and got away with just hitting a somewhat small tree and damaged my side skirts, cracked my front bumper and broke headlight, and then broke my rear valence when I called my friend to come pull me out. Heres some pictures..

What did the insurance say? You going to get a check for the damages?

That sucks but it looks like you managed to get away with the minimum amount of damage you could for going off the road. As you said once you lock em up your no longer in control. The only way to get control back is to try and modulate the brakes so your right on the edge of locking up, just like the ABS does, and let off again as soon as they lock. Doesn't sound like you had much time to react as you were heading into the turn. You should come out ahead with the insurance money at least so some new mods are in your future:-)

Im not going to report to insurance cause my parents said the deductable is $2000. All I need is a new headlight which Im getting for $50. And I have another Gt bumper Im getting painted for $150... And my buddy is giving me his GT sideskirts for free so its gonna come out to about $300 to fix.

At least you are ok and it's a cheap fix. I hear if you are driving in bad weather(snow/rain) and don't have the best tires, adding some weight in the trunk helps a lot with traction for our cars. I have been suggested to use bricks/sand bags when snow hits the ground.

Higher the deductible, the less likely you are to claim any small things, so your monthly premium is lower.
