Default X pipe Question

Hey guys my son has a 07 V6. Can he use an X pipe designed for a v8? His friend has one he is willing to sell to him and I was wondering if it would fit. Any help is appreciated.

Is his current setup just the stock single exhaust?

That is the set up I have, Ford Racing X pipe to dual GT takes offs. You have to measure and cut the down tubes and replace the Y pipe with the X. Of course you also need to get the driver side mid pipe to connect to the new muffler on the driver side.

I believe that the FRPP dual conversion comes with the X pipe.

Yes he has the stock single exhaust. He wants the Borla Stingers and mid pipes. So it will fit we just have to cut it? I think it is the Bassani X pipe.

I believe that the GT X pipe will have a larger inner diameter than the outer diameter of the V6 Y pipe. When you cut the Y pipe the GT X pipe will not be a good slip fit. I bought a Pypes X pipe for my V6 and it was necked down to fit over the V6 Y pipe after I cut it.
