gears...
not necessary, but it's the best time to put one in! The labor savings alone will pay for it (compared to buying one later and then putting it in).
They have to pull out the stock carrier anyway, and bolt the new gears on, and put it back in. Putting a t-loc back in instead is no big deal since it's all taken apart.
I'd recommend though, and you can search around, depending on what you want to do with the car (how much power you want to get to), to think ahead a little. If you plan on putting on a turbo or supercharger, put in a Detroit true-trak instead of a t-loc; you'll pay more for it, but it is MUCH stronger and will take what power you can throw at it later.
If you plan to stay N/A including with bolt-ons, then going the t-loc route it a good choice.
Just do it at the same time as gears right away

Not necessary but should be mandatory. 3.73 gears putting the power throught 1 tire = your going to have no traction! Any kind of spirited driving is going to go up in one wheel tire smoke. Install the gears & t-lok together.
I priced this route before going with a GT takeoff. My FRPP dealer quaoted me $389 for T-lok and 3.73 gears (FRPP obviously). They wanted $200 for the install...so I could get out the door for $600.
