Default BBK Cold Air Intake Options

I recently purchased the BBK CAI for my 2006 V6 under the impression that a re-tune was not necessary, upon recieving it I realized that it may require a higher octane than 87 to avoid having the car run lean. I have not installed it yet, but am wondering about possible options rather than running a higher octane.

Instead of running a higher octane, is there a tuner out there that will accomodate for the BBK intake and allow me to run 87 octane without running lean and triggering the warning lights?

its not that a higher octane will fix this, i had mine on for about 2 weeks before i tuned it. itll run lean no matter what. just buy a tuner for it. i run my with bama 93 race and love it. any tuner will will fix this. but im sure youll need a custom tune instead of a canned one

To get the full benefit of ANY cai you will need a tuner with custom tunes. A cai without a tune is a waste. And the money difference between 87 and 91/93 octane is about $6-$7 dollars on a full tank. After driving the car with a 91/93 octane custom tune you will not worry about the extra $6-$7 dollars! You also need a performance muffler to get maximum power from the cai/tuner comb!. These 3 mods work best together! Good luck!
