Do all V6's have 7.5 rears?
#11
I agree with pascal on this why do all serious modded V6'ers go with the 8.8 instead of the 7.5? Also why do we go to 9" rear when the 8.8 is not enough for serious hp (like 900+-just an example).

Believe it or not the 7.5" rear came as the only option on GTs back in the early 80's. My 83 GT came with a 7.5" rear. I broke 3 of them before Ford Motorsports came out with the 8.8 replacement. My point is that the power level of the 05 + V6 is similar to the power level of my 1983 5.0 motor. Go with an 8.8.

Assembly means: EVERYTHING THAT'S PART OF THE REAR END.
As for the driveshaft, you'll need the U-joints of the 8.8...
Also the website called "the V6 collective" is a good place to learn.
You'll chat with folks that put 6spd trannies in their sixxer etc...

You need to learn the Jargon...

The reason for so many questions is the junk yard is 90 miles away and thats a long haul if you forgot something.

Sure, you can build the 7.5" up to handle 350HP, but why? The 8.8" can be had in the right ratio, with t-lok, ready for future power mods...and the install is a two beer job. They are CHEAP too...most folks can get them tot he door for $800 or less!
I did not want to spend time researching a thousand option trying to decide if I should build the 7.5 or swap...I just wanted to drive the dang car...so I chose the easy and sure bet.

well back in the very beginning not everyone had the 8.8 down. add to the fact that i had already replaced my DS because it blew apart on the dyno and needed it right now. and add to the fact that i got a t-loc for 100 bucks new from ford and they installed it during a service for 50 bucks i went that way but that was over 2 years ago. 150 bucks for a t loc installed was not so bad. the only bummer was that at the time we were going to use my car for the x charger carb cert so Dave asked me not to do gears.
i have an auto with 30.000 plus miles on it and it if fine as a part time track car daily driver putting 282 down. but if your gonna drive it hard all the time and with the obvious glut of 8.8s out there do it. just make sure the gears are right and the flange is good. some have had issues with the flange and the gear lash from some of the companies.
