Default Mixing Antifreeze?

I just checked my Antifreeze and its really low. I went to the store and the guy told me to use this Havoline stuff and he sold me 100% antifreeze, not 50/50 which I would have prefered. I thought it was 50/50 when I bought but I was in a huge hurry. The bottle doesn't say anywhere that it's straight antifreeze it just says what the freeze protection works up to (ex: 70% antifreeze, 30% water, etc) which is why I assume it's 100% antifreeze.

Anyways when I mix the antifreeze and water there isn't anything special about it is there? Just mix the two in an old container or what?

ALSO will the Havoline stuff work with whats in my car now?! I assume that whatever is in it now is what comes with it out of the factory. Will this havoline work with that or did I get the wrong kind?

It depends on what this 'havoline' stuff is.
Ethyl Glycol?
The owners manual states what type of coolant
to use and what compatable with what it came
with from the factory. Ethyol Glycol types are not
compatable with S197 stangs OEM coolant type.

Since you live in Minnesota I wouldn't worry about using straight 100% antifreeze to top off your overflow tank. Check your owners manual and you will see that we require only Extended Life antifreeze. Plus you should find out why your system was "really low" to begin with.

Yeah, that is the issue here. Antifreeze is not consumed anywhere...so unless you had a known overheat...or some kind of maintenance spill...you need to find out where you are leaking fluid.

Well the weather was -55* Farenheit and I had to drive it around in that crap for a week or two while it was ranging from -15 to -55*. Would that make the car have to use any of it? I had no idea our cars did not NEED to have the antifreeze to function for anything other than overheating. I've never had overheating or a spill (perhaps the first owner did spill something and didn't top it off?)

I'll take it to the dealership when I get home. But will my car make it home (1200 miles) without any problems if I leave it a little low? Theres still some in there just not a lot.

ASIDE from that it is nonetheless low. On the back of the bottle it says "Formulated for new FORD & Chrysler vehicles" then it says it meets or exceeds 2003+ Ford Automobiles.

However it also says "Ethylene Glycol may taste pleasant but it is extremaly toxic" therefore I assume that it contains the Ethylene Glycol... so I can't use it can I?

No, that is not an indicator of compatability.

Will my car make it home next week (1200 miles)? Or should I get it checked out here if I can?

I just read through the whole manual and it doesn't say anything about Ethylene Glycol (that I saw??) But it does say on the bottle "Ingredients Ethylene Glycol"

IT does say what specifications that the Antifreeze has to meet and the stuff I've got meets the exact specification that the manual says. It also says on the antifreeze that it meets all new Ford Vehicle requirements...

Will this stuff work???
