Default Help with Aftermarket Dash Tacho's

Some people say that having a dash tach is heavy rice, but if you drive a stang, you know that reading your stock tach is like looking down a dark tunnel. I would like to have a gauge either mounted on the frame of my car by the door or on the dash on the same spot.

Are the cheap 50 buck ebay ones ok to get or are they junk? I'm not spending 200 something on american muscle. while im a big believer in YGWYPF, thats really overpriced IMO

Some people say you need some sort of adapter to install one or else you will get nada in terms of rpm feedback from the ecu

Buy a cheap Chinese eBay tach. It'll re-educate you on the whole YGWYPF thing

If you're going bargain hunting, at least try to stick with the name brands (Autometer, etc)

Yep, a tach adapter is needed for an aftermarket tach.
The adapters are as expensive as the tach....

Autometer has been sounding like the one to get. Anybody got a link to the adapter?

Why not a small shift light instead of a tach mounted on the dash.
