LED's courtesy lights and more... Opinions please
While I had my mirrors off to repaint them, I thought it might be cool to add courtesy lights under the mirrors. There is one white LED on the underside of each mirror. They are wired to the same circuit as the interior overhead lights. They come on when I unlock the doors, have a door open, ect.
Now I'm wondering about adding more. Maybe a few under the front/rear bumper, maybe wheel wells. What to you guys think? Too weird? Ricey? I'd probably put them all on the same circuit. BTW, I wired them all to a switch that can turn the LED's off
As always, thanks for your input.

They are mounted under the side/rear-view mirrors. I drilled a small hole about an inch and a half from the edges, and then ran the wire through the door panel through the rubber conduit and into the interior.
One item of note. Unlike most DC power circuits, the interior lights open and close the Ground, not the Hot or + wire.

Nice job but a little to ricey for me...
Great mods come from the imagination of forum members.

157db, Thanks for the link to the diagrams, that will make future electrical much easier.
BTW I want very clear with the wiring explanation. The lights are no connected to the switches on the overhead lights, rather the same circuit that get power when a door opens, or the unlock button is pressed. They all turn on/off together, but don't come on when you hit the button for the map light.

The auto power down feature drops the 12V to the
overhead bulbs when you leave the overhead switche(s) o
n for longer than ?20 mins?. Auto power off feature.
The SJB switches the ground side during normal operation
or in other words, it sinks the load.
Its been almost 3 years since that first interior light mod.
Memory failing me....

Let me try this again Hopefully with fewer typos!
There is a constant 12v+ to the lights. The ground/- for the circuit comes from a wire on the passenger side A pillar. Thats where the wire bundle is that runs to the overhead map lights. Based on what my multimeter told me the Pink/green wire was the one that activated the overhead lights when the doors open or unlock switch is pressed.
I tapped that wire and ran it to a second switch, then on to the mirror lights. That second switch just allows me to interrupt the circuit and keep the lights off if I choose.
Hope that clears it up.
The lights are recessed into the bottom of the mirror. only the tip of the bulb protrudes.
