Default Miles Per A Tank! Yes Another Thread

I'm averaging between 250 to 290 to a tank of gas with my V6

One of my friends with a 2005+ newer GT Claim he can get or will get 400+miles per a tank....is that even possible?

Are our v6s getting less than some GTs?

All I have is the Bama Tunes on 93 Octane, and 373 Gears with Tlok on a 8.8 and Xpipe with Dual Exhaust.

I think I have been getting less good mpgs since I started adding all that stuff lol

I've read that I'm averaging just around what many other V6s are but was curious if any are actually getting +300.

I do mostly highway driving and only have 30k on my 05

When I fill up mine says 410-425 until empty, based on last average, which is usually 25-27 mpg.

Commute can have a lot to do with it. My daily drive is 15mi to work and 15mi back on local roads. My V6 will average 19-21. If I go on a highway roadtrip, I'll start pushing mid 25s or so. The 4MPG across the tank a fuel can account for a chunk of mileage.

Variables: Full MAC CAI, custom 87 tune, 18" GT takeoffs, GT takeoff muffler

First of all, pretty sure your GT owner friend is either full of sh*t or just confused. I've seen a V6's that claim 400+ miles a tank but thats with an economic tune and aluminum driveshafts. There may be other factors too. The on dash isn't all that accurate all the time, your best results will be by paying attention to your odometer and how much gas you have to put in at fill up and doing some division. That being said, I average about 320 miles to the tank. Only mods are K&N CAI and dual exhaust with GT mufflers. I have a 25 mile freeway commute four days a week, but two of those days are in heavy traffic one way so those 50 miles a week aren't really "highway driving". I drive an average amount on the streets, though suburban streets are more forgiving than metropolitan streets when it comes to this stuff

I have paid close attention to this and I think mine is within 10-15 miles of accurate. I do notice a big drop if I get cought at a light, you can sit and watch the mpg indicator go down from 27 to 24 in just one lights time. When driving (30 miles to and 30 miles from work) I just barely touch the gas to stay at 55-60. Pretty flat, two hills. I can usually avoid traffic most days though.
I think it is the in town driving that kills peoples mileage. I just checked mine and it says 388 to empty but I idled around in the yard yesterday and let it run just sitting for a few minutes for my brother to hear to new exhaust and take a few pics, lol.
Plus I never "warm it up" just start and go.

Wow, I can't believe how many people go by the worthless "miles per tank". Unless you're hand calculating OR running each and every tank empty (a.k.a. until you literally run out of gas), you really have no idea what your REAL mileage is unless you're one of the fortunate minority that has the onboard computer that's accurate within 1 MPG. FYI, the AVERAGE Stang's on board is about 1-2 MPG generous; in other words, it's telling you you're getting better gas mileage than you really are.

Your buddy's GT MAY very well get 400 miles per tank. I have 3.55's and often run 800 mile trips or farther. In areas where I run from gas station-to-gas-station on relatively flat roads at 1800 RPM or lower and with the cruise on, I get over 25 MPG, hand calculated, with my GT. On a 16 gallon tank that's slightly over 400 miles. But it's rare that I'll run that slow (more like 2,000 - 2200 RPM steady) with an occasional burst to 110 MPH and then I'm getting about 22 MPG on average. That would be 352 miles per tank for you guyz that use that silly method.

I would say that a lot of your lower MPG is about your mods. I probably average 325-350 before I fill up but will get 400+ on straight highways. I also wait til i'm at least 50 miles to empty(according to the on dash). But adding a heavier axel with 373 gears will decrease mileage and some has to do with how you drive.

I'm getting about 250 - 270 miles per tank and all I have is a bbk intake.

I do almost all my driving in the city, and I live less than 4miles from where I work. I think this has a lot to do with my low mpg.
