You'll be adding a lot of weight & rotating mass with the 18's so that is a big negative. That said however I would run the 16" in front, pump up the air pressure to 45-50#'s for less rolling resitance. In the rear go with the 18's as you should get a lot more traction with them. Drop the pressure in back to 26-28#'s. You'll have to experiment with your leave rpm but the key is to not bog at all off the line and minimize any tire spin. A little bit of spin is ok as long as you hook up as you enter the power band. If you don't mind smoking the clutch then slip it as much as needed to keep the engine from bogging and the tires from spinning. And of course you'll want to get a limited slip rear for the next time you go.
If you are a track newbie you should know that reaction time and red lights have NO affect on your E.T. Pay close attention to your 60' time as that is where you will make or break a good run. If you can get your 60' under 2.5 the first time out you are doing fine.

+1 on the posi man youll need that for sure and if you are going to run at the track alot then i might advise on getting some MT drag radials i love mine and for launching you aill get much better traction with a smaller rim and fattier tire, the sidewall is what helps your 60....i got a sixxer too and run MT's with a 8.8 rear end and 3.73 gears....and a tuner that i tuned myself...i was able to strap down 1.95 60' time with a 14.51 best ET stock tranny and shifter.... and yeah liek said dont worry about reaction time at this point get your runs down then move onto reaction time

With a near stock setup, you're not going to see a big difference between the wheels. As long as you don't spin the tires, you'll do fine.

Oh, the main thing: HAVE FUN!!! It's such a blast!!!
