Default Stangs and the Car Wash

Do you guys trust the car wash with your Stangs or do you do them by hand everytime? So far I have always done mine, but its getting pretty cold. I just dont trust those car washers with my baby though.

Although I've never had my GT thru a car wash in the 2 1/2 years I've had it or the g/f's Pony in the 8 months we've had that, I probably would find a touchless car wash I trusted IF we drove either one in the winter. Fortunately (if you don't take withdrawl symptons into account), we don't. Both are in storage.

I go to the touchless car wash every time. Do not go through one of those car washes that use those spinner brushes, etc. They will tear your car to crap.

wASH MITS THAT HAVE DIRT IN THEM ARE A CLEARCOAT KILLER.
Fricken caps lock...
Those 'touchless' washes routinly go bizerkers and comes
down on top of the vehicle instead of behind it.
The signs state not responsible and they mean it..

I stay away from car washes in general. I do it by hand. When I used to work in auto parts I used to see a car a week with paint problems caused by mechanical car washes. Everything from scratches to swirls and actual gouges. If you must go through one go with the touchless ones but be prepared to follow up on your own and wash the rims and lower part of the car.

None of the touchless ones do a decent job below the midline of the car which is why I don't use them. Why pay for it then have to follow it up with your own elbow grease? Pocket the money and spend it on some worthwhile cleaning supplies.

Yep my own hands wash mine, just a side note, if I paid 50,000 + for a 2010 Cobra or any car that much and had paper stripes on it and had a sticker saying use caution when hitting with a hose, that dealer is doing one of two things to keep my business, just like I did with mine, they are either sealing with clear coat or paying to have the stripes painted on and sealed, I paid for mine cuz was my Idea, but if they came with...mmmmmm 50,000 and paper tape, not sealed come on.

Touchless in the winter...but if you think about it, there are probably more things you can scratch your car with when hand washing it as opposed to using a touchless car wash.

That's why I buy new microfiber sponges and new microfiber towels every 6 months to a year. I have one sponge specifically for my rims where most of the dirt resides.

The towels make great rags when they're wasted.
