Default Headers on my 4.0

Over the holidays I got some gift certificates to American Muscle, I have been wanting to put headers on my car for some time and I think now is it. I was thinking BBK or JBA. BBK has chrome or ceramic coating options. The Ceramic is $369 vs chrome $269. I talked to the AM rep and they said the ceramic was worth the extra hundred and is what he reccomended. I realize the ceramic has better heat retention and runs cooler, and also distorts less in color over a long period of time. But is the ceramic really that much better to be worth the extra hundred? Or is the JBA stainless for $329 the way to go?

Any thoughts, opinions or first hand would be great.

many threads on this subject and i've posted a good amount myself. IMO, stainless are completely adequate. ceramic has a purpose but i dont believe it applies to our engine. makes more sense in a higher output engine where engine temps are much higher. save some cash and stick with stainless. whether or not to even buy headers is a discussion of its own. my opinion is that they are worth it if you can get a great deal on a quality set. they dont give enough to justify paying retail. good luck.

I say go for ceramic if you plan bigger power, also get the JBAs. Better quality and people had had fitment problems with BBK

What do you all think about the headers they sell on Ebay for about $80-$140? Are they worth it?
Thanks

The cheapie eBay headers are Chinese made knockoffs of JBA's. By all accounts, they're usable, if the fact they're counterfeits/copies doesn't bother you.

Re: the original post. I'd spring for the ceramic coated. They make a significant difference in underhood temps.

I say go for the bbk chrome ones, Theres not going to be any difference performance wise between stainless, ceramic, chrome. I put bbk chrome headers in my v6 and it added a nice deeper sound to the exhaust note.

Are you currently running a tune with that CAI? You might be able to squeeze a few ponies out with a revised tune...

IMO the JBA are the best quality and fit. Have heard the BBK gave people problems.

long tubes will help power, the shorties won't do anything except give you headers. The stock exhaust manifolds on the 4.0 are very good. Adding shorties will add nothing in performance. I'd spend my money in other places, but if ya want headers just because ya want headers, go fo it.
