Cool Bosch Platinum Ir Fusion tune up

Now before everyone flames me for buying these spark plugs and saying things like how they are a waste of money and will offer no benefit and its all hype, i have had great luck with Bosch Platinum + 4 spark plugs. Now i didn't "feel" a difference at all like the box guarantees that you will, but i did notice a huge difference in MPG. My old mustang, a 1990, i went from getting 22 to about 25 to 26. In my Eclipse, i went from getting about 25 to around 30. Now granted this is testing old wore spark plugs with new spark plugs but the MPG difference is real. i tested by reseting the odometer filling the tank and doing math.

But this is not the reason i made this thread. I wrote it to inform of the MFers of the deal Bosch is offering:

Bosch Platinum Ir Fusion from Auto Zone $7.99 + tax = 8.55 * 6 = $51.30 per tune up

Bosch Platinum Ir Fusion from Amazon.com $5.75 + no tax + free shipping + $2.00 rebate = $3.75 * 6 = $22.50 per tune up!

Great Price! granted the rebate will work at autozone too. Anyways right now i am getting about 22 MPG. While i don't expect to get any increase in HP and only a 2-3 MPG increase AT BEST. I will be checking both religiously and will Post the results here.

Now, let the flames begin....

You are correct. the links in the post are the part numbers for the 4.0 V6. Ford has some abnormal set up for the S197 GT making spark plugs harder to find. they make wires for the GT but no plugs. I have the V6 which uses the normal wire and plug set up. however, if you have any other mustang engine or vehicle, i highly recommend them.

Also the E3 "diamond fire" plugs are no good. (i know they are a sponsor, sorry)

Did you install the spark plugs yourself?

would be interested to hear your results - i suspect it will be negligible and *perhaps* new spark leads would help, but I don't expect your results to be any worse.

I just replaced my spark plugs with Bosch standard OEM platinum by local family owned garage for $100 installed + tax. Summer driving been getting 28 mpg hwy and with tail wind 30mpg with the Autolite. Expect to get the same with Bosch platinum OEM replacement. Tire pressure is kept at 38psi front and 35 rear.

I have a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer, and I want to try the Bosch IrFusion plugs, with Borg Warner wires. I was just wondering how your experience went with these plugs, and if you have any opinions on using them in a Ford 302 5.0 liter.
