Default What Type of Fuel to Use?

Hey guys i just wanted to get your opinion on what grade octane your using? I'm thinking about switching from 87. I have a 2007 v6 4.0 liter. Is there anything special you have to do, or is it fine to just fill up with premium?

Stick with 87 unless you are tuned. You really wont get any benefits from a higher octane unless your car is tuned for it.

I use 87, and just get a can of Seafoam every couple of weeks, and use it. It keeps the injectors clean, and does a decent job I think. Just my 2 cents

Seafoam shouldn't be used too frequently, every oil change should suffice. And to answer OP's original question, there is nothing special required if you're going to switch grades, just fill'er up. Maybe on a near empty tank so as not to mix different grades.

+1 on above info.

Yes you need to specify what type of fuel for your tune, the tunes are written about the octane. ie.. 87 performance, 93 race, etc.

With my stock tune I used 85 octane. Ran fine.
87 & 91 with my Bama tunes.

I hope I'm not fanning flames on a bad myth, but I do notice an MPG improvement if I fill up with 89 instead of 87. Maybe another 20 miles to the tank or so. I've never used 91 so I'm not sure if there's another jump.

you shouldn't need to use seafoam ever, if you maintain your car the way you're supposed to. Stay away from cheap gas, don't run your tank to empty and have some variable driving. Under some extreme circumstances I can see not getting variable driving unavoidable but then you still shouldn't use seafoam except for maybe once a year (12K miles)
