Default Small engine problem.

My friend on the other side of the states has a problem with his 99 explorer.Since it is a 4.0, well, you get the idea.
It conks out when he puts it in reverse right after he starts it up. I thought it was a vacuum issue.

Are you asking for a diagnoses?
If it doesnt happen when the engine is warmed up,
then I think he should back into his parking spots.

yes explorers use a lock up converter at least the newer ones do. there is a cyliniond that controls this if it sticks then it will lock the converter and kill the engine but most times it does it in Drive as well as reverse. I am not there so other then that can't give you much more advice.

I have not done one since 2001. the noids back then where $100-120 and puting them is better done at a tranny shop no clue how much they charge.
