Default 2005 Black V-6 mustang ... Looking to increase HP

I have read enough threads now to see that the first two moves to increase HP are a CAI and a tuner. However, I still do not know which CAI to buy? I have been looking on american muscle and found some good prices, but should I buy a high end CAI in order to get a couple more HPs????? What say you?

Are you racing it? Otherwise what are a few extra hp going to do for you.

Ya I was planning on getting a tuner as well. I have been looking on american muscle. I really like the price of the package deal with the tuner and the JLT for 529, but I would really like to get the airaid though because they claim to increase 15 hp!!!

I would go with the one that requires a tune because overall you will get more horsepower out of it. JLT and C&L are good ones.

Definitely get one with a custom Bama tune.

The Steeda or JLT combo kits both look like good deals.

okay so I just talked to the mechanic that installed my exhaust and he said that there is NO difference between a new CAI and a drop in K&N filter. I dont know, this doesnt really make sense but if true, I can instead buy new gears with the money I save from not buying the CAI!!!

There is a huge difference between a CAI and a stock airbox. The stock airbox has restricted airflow, which limits HP.

I have the Airaid CAI and Brenspeed custom tunes and absolutely felt a huge difference!
I chose the Airaid CAI, because it did not require a tune and it is the same company that makes the Roush CAI. However, I installed it a long time ago and only felt minimal HP increase (5-7 HP) in higher RPMS. I uploaded the 87 Brenspeed tune on Friday and I felt a HUGE difference in HP and Torqe, especially around the 2,000 - 2,500 RPM range. It feels like I have a totally different car.

I highly recommend the CAI/TUNE!!!

If you have any questions, feel free to message me.

Good luck!

Kevin

So it sounds like the it is the combination between the CAI and tuner that makes all the difference.
