What's the max width for 9.5"

I currently have 245x18s all around, but I'm thinking about going to 255s in the front, 275s in the rear. Thoughts? How far out can 9.5" take me?

Sometimes if I plan n going to the track ,they have been on for about 3 months now but I am planning on putting my street tires back on, they are 275/40s.When they wear out I am going with 285/40s on the rear.
