Default Do I say bye-bye to the 4.0?

I love, love, love my Mustang, it's body-style, and the interior more than any other Mustang's Model, just my personal preferance. However, my little brother has hit the age where my parents feel he needs a reliable car instead of his current car which noone trusts.
They found a 2004 Mustang GT, now it's either he gets the GT or I do, and whoever gets the GT the other person gets the 4.0.

Shall I "downgrade" to "upgrade"? How worth it would it be to take this GT over my 4.0? I have been wanting more power, but I dont want to lose the looks of my current style... I dont know what to do

Opinions? I'm guessing you'll all say take the GT but I'm really stuck here & if I let him have the GT then he will always rub the fact in my face that he has a faster car than me now

If you like your car then who cares if his is faster, IMO s197s look way better than any other years, but I also love 99-04's if its the right color. If I wasn't so attached to my car/S197s, I'd grab the 04 GT. Would your parents consider letting you look into selling it for a S197 GT?

I'd take the 2004 GT. Choose which car you want based on what you like, not what your brother will think.

I'm not trying to choose for other people - but only myself. I have been wanting more power and I honestly can't afford a S197 GT right now, and I can't afford the mods for the 4.0 (ie CAI+Tune, exhaust, supercharger, any of that = no $$$ right now)

I want the extra power but I dont know how much I'd like driving that body style.
PS the 04 is silver. I'm going to test drive it tomorrow so maybe that will change my mind a little faster. :P

The interior of a 99-04 is, a bit rough. But I'd suck it up to have even the 2 valve 4.6 over the V6. I'd even give up the superior chassis of the S197 to dodge the V6. Just me though. Maybe the creature comforts of your current S197 will win over the 2 Valve.

Uhm the 2004 GT is not an upgrade to the S197, it isn't faster either. I wouldn't take a 2004 GT plus cash for an S197. (I guess it depends on how much cash).

The S197 is hands down a better car.

The ONLY thing you will get by trading down is a V8 rumble.

260 at the crank vs 210 @ the crank isn't a huge difference.. i'd take the modern (and much better) looks over a small power increase, and sn95s are a dime a dozen

The way I see it is you really like YOUR car, it has the look you want and makes you happy! Now throw a one year older different body style with a v8 in the mix, and you are contemplating changing cars because you don't want your younger brother to one up you because of the v8. Who cares! You shouldn't!

If you were comparing the same body style the decision would be simple...but you like your body style better so stick with it!

2004 Mustang GT 1/4 mile time stock - 14.8
2005 Mustang V6 1/4 mile time stock - 15.3

Is it worth .5 seconds?

Why can't your parents just find a 2005-2009 used V6 for your younger brother? That way you both will be happy.
