Default X-Charger 2.6" pulley with Carbinite coating

I just received my pulley for my X-Charger Xtreme setup.

I had Explorer Express ship it directly to Carbinite Racing in PA to have their Carbinite coating process done on it, then CR shipped it on to my address. The intent is to reduce any potential belt slip. Carbinite electro-deposits a somewhat coarse layer of tungsten carbide to the pulley surfaces in contact with the belt, and it's shown good results in drag racing use. The tungsten is actually harder than the steel, so the pulley should wear well also.

The rest of the kit should be here on Tues

Runs $75 to get the pulley coated + a few bucks for shipping

That looks like it will play hell on the belt, I'd carry a spare if I were you. Very good looking part, I'm sure it will be effective.

I checked with a number of people running Carbinite coated pulleys, and the overall concensus is it doesn't rip the belt up. If the belt slipped, it would probably accelerate wear, but everyone I got info from said both slippage and wear are a non-issue.

By comparison, I'm currently running a pulley with machined anti-slip grooves across the face, and that does tear the belt up to some degree (I have to clean belt dust under the hood occasionally and I get about 8-9 months use out of a belt currently).

I always carry a spare belt anyway, and I'll report back on how the Carbinite works out for me after it's on and I have some miles on it.
