adding additional lights
i have 2 led bar lights that i want to add to the interior of my 2007 ford mustang v6, the only problem is, is that i want them to only work when i open the doors, or roll the switch for the dome lights to come on.
what fuse do i tap into or how do i go about setting up the lights so the work as another dome light?
thanks

I would suggest using a relay to trigger the lights off of the door switch. I wouldn't recommend attaching them direct as you don't know what the current draw of the existing lights are and whats on the rest of the circuit. Adding additional items to an existing circuit without knowing if the wire can handle the extra current flow could cause problems like blown fuses and melted wires. I recently did the GT bumper and grille swap. I wanted the lights to work without purchasing a new switch or overpriced wiring harness so I made my own for $35. I was able to use one of the headlight wires as the trigger to turn the fogs on when the headlights come on but go off when the high beams are on. It works great and doesn't draw much current at all.
Here is the wiring for a V6 convertible and it might be the same for yours.
Yellow-Light Green (YL-LG) Right door
Light Green-Black (LG-BK) Left door
You could also tie the relay trigger into the light itself so that when using the RKE, they come on with the other interior lights.
Just my .02

Not enough to warrant a size bigger in the wire department.
Unless you are planning on adding hundreds but the
OP stated only 2 LED light bars?
84 watts of Fog lamps, YES to the relay, two LED lights, NO relay required.
Its just plain overkill.
Sorry charlie.
WIRING diagrams are available online.
The wire colors and locations are shown in detail for those that can understand....
