Default Help with aftermarket parts/warranty

Hello there! new to this site. I got a 2010 4.0L V6 mustang premium package. I have had it since January of this year and absolutley love it. But of course I have saved up some money and would love to add some stuff to it. Got a question. I want to add dual exhuast on my mustang. Only problem is I called the guy I want to do it for me and he told me that its going to void the warranty.... Basically he said that if he installed it for me and I had an issue later on down the road with my car that Ford would come up with some bull s*** way of how the problem was linked to the exhuast and not fix it under my warranty. (I am aware of the magnuson-moss act by the way) I was just wondering if there was any way i could get aftermarket parts installed to where no matter what if i had car troubles that it would be covered under the warranty with no questions asked. If this car was bought by me (not my dad) I would go for it anyways and hope I would have no issues in the near future, But of course my dad is not allowing me to do get any aftermarket products if it affects the warranty. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

It only voids the warranty on the changed part.

So if i DO get dual exhuast and later have something that I need fixed on my car. they'd still be able to fix it under warranty? i thought this also but the guy i talked to on the phone said otherwise. I just do not get how any problem on a car can be traced back to an exhuast system that was added. I have been working on all this for weeks trying to figure this stuff out and it still doesn't make any sense. I wish the warranty info would really be more straight forward on things like this

I understand your situation.....when I bought my car new, one of my first major mods was to go dual. I too asked the question and wondered if it would void my warranty, but I found out it will not void your warranty unless something goes wrong (which is rare) that is in direct effect of the dual exhaust. Ford would have to prove it. I bit the bullet and had them put on while I was in my early stages of warranty and you know what.....no problems what so ever! Now that my warranty has expired, I am looking into getting a CAI and custom tune.
One way to not worry about the warranty is to have Ford install their exhaust set up. By them doing the work, they should back it if anything ever goes wrong.

Yeah, if you were to go dual and lets say your tranny blows or you throw a rod or whatever, they'd have to directly link the dual exhaust as the cause for failure. It's not up to Ford, it's the law.

It's the Magnuson-Moss Act. Here's some links- If a dealership ever tries it, just reference it and then speak to a lawyer if need be. (Hopefully not)
