So I'm driving this rental 2011 V6...

Just for giggles, are you sure it's an '11 and not a '10?
Seems early for rental car places to have them. There's still some dealers waiting for them. Either way, I'd imagine there is some type of speed governor seeing how it's a rental. Also..Are you sure you're turning off the traction control? I know you said you did but just pressing it doesn't disable it. Hold the break and hold the TC button for about 5 sec until the little car with skid marks stays lit in the instrument cluster.

I'm pretty sure that it is a 2011, I'm a carfreak and I always want to know exactly what I'm driving
I arrived in San Francisco today and made a few crappy cellphone pics to show that it really is the 2011 model.
I timed my runs by filming it with my camera and afterwards timing it with my mobile. @lostnight, you just floor it and keep your foot down, right? I usually drive stick and haven't got a clue when it comes to getting an automatic to go to 60 in a fast manner. It seems to me that pushing the pedal to the floor and letting it rev to the limiter isn't necessarily the most effective way to get the fastest 0-60. The engine in my car reaches max torque at about 4300rpm and max power at 5400, so it's no use to let it rev to 7000rpm as it has lost most of it's power by then. Does the variable valve timing of the new v6 rule this problem out completely?
Sorry for the large files->mobile

Pushing or holding the TC button has the same result, display says 'traction control off' and the yellow icon goes on.
@157dB, what does this MYKEY system do? In the settings there's an option that reads "press reset to create MYKEY"
I don't mind it not going faster than 110, but I would like to experience it's full accelerationpower
Oh yeah, I get about 25mpg, got it up to 29mpg once, after a long stretch of highway. Don't see it going up to 31 though! I use regular gas.

1.Traction/Stability control on (default when starting car)
2.Traction off/Stability control on (The stability control is what engages the brakes when the wheels spin..aka...no burnout) (brake/press button 1-2 sec)
3. Traction/Stability control off (brake and press 5-6 sec)
I know the GT's have sport mode I'm not sure if the 11 v6 does, it very well may. If so add 1 more and I have no idea how to use it lol.

Copied from Ford's website on the list of standard features for 2011....
"Standard on every Mustang, the industry-first MyKey owner controls lets you assign separate keys for additional drivers, all coded to enforce your specific driving restrictions. You can limit vehicle functions, including top speed and audio volume, and add warning alerts at pre-selected speeds. When activated, MyKey also encourages smart driving behavior by muting audio until safety belts are buckled, chiming earlier for low-fuel warnings, and prohibiting the shutoff of key accent-avoidance features such as AdvanceTrac® Electronic Stability Control."
Basically it was designed for parents with teenager drivers but I'm sure rental companies will use it as well. Like 157db said his Mom works for a rental company and she said they do so case closed there.
BTW congrats on actually getting a Mustang from a rental company. A few years back I reserved/paid for a convertible mustang for a trip and when I showed up they "didn't have one" so I got a Mitsubishi Eclipse instead....what a bummer that was.
