Default I too tested a `11 v6

Drove a premium coupe, auto, stock gears and comfort package. The results were different from what I expected.

This car is as quick as advertised. Really turns on about 4k and keeps going. I didn`t push it to the limits but found it to be much faster than my `07. It shifted very soft and slow and was slow to kick down in the gears. Driving time and a tune fixes all that.

The problem is that it didn`t feel like it was fast. Speed is judged by us thru the inputs to all our senses. The sights, sounds, vibrations and pressures exerted during a hard run all combine to create the excitement we feel. Frankly a 0-80 mph run at 80% throttle was so uneventful as to actually be a little boring.

This car is just too isolated for me in the coupe with windows up. Little noise and no vibration take much away from the feeling of power. If I were to have one it would have to be a vert. Then some exhaust work and a tune would be nice.

This is a very fine car. It is quick and rides and handles well. For the price I don`t see how you beat it.

i have been reading and hearing that the auto feels slow. the 6 speed would feel a lot better i think. not to change the subject of the thread but i drove a 5.0 recently and dang its amazingly fast. i really do wish it was a little louder tho. it was a coupe also and windows up with the ac blasting bc it was 100+ degrees outside it didnt sound like a 400 hp car. just my .02

what you said is pretty much what edmunds or one of those companies said and that was that it didint feel like a sports car even though it was faster then all of its competition.

Preety much all the mustang through the ages tend not to have that rumble sound (stock trim). I've ridden in preety much every generation of mustang (foxbody-S197) and the only mustang that I can rememer (stock exhuast), that had the notable rumble, was my buddys 85 5.0 GT. Man that car sounded sweet..

+1 A tune would take care of that. I don't think I'd ever buy an auto again though

This thread was in no way a knock on the new `stang. I guess I was trying to say this car is so rock solid, handles so well, and is so quiet that the perception of acceleration and speed is not as evident in the `11 as in previous generations. I suspect the `10 may be much the same.

Being 68 years old I have driven many of the older pony and muscle cars. They have generally had what I would call "drama" when pushed. Noise, vibration, and a feeling of brutishness.

Since I have now also driven a 5.0 I can say both new cars are smooth, quiet, powerfull, and easy to drive even under full acceleration. Ford has created a great car and time will prove it.

ive always had beef with ford for making the stock mustangs so quiet
i mean on my friends 03 cobra when he floors it i hear the whine of the blower over the exhaust!!!! lol
i guess its to appeal for those who buy it that dont like to let everyone know they are coming, although i think its wrong to quiet down these cars lol
