Default trying to decide...

hey guys long time reader first time poster...im very interested in getting the new 2011 mustang...but i could really care less about leather seats...but i do want the louvers, hood scoop, side scoops, candy red metallic, and black interior, 6 speed etc, my only problem with this set up is i want a good audio system, not a crappy stock sound system...and the only way to get the shaker 500 is to upgrade to the premium, how does the shaker 500 compare to the plain jane stock system? and i really hate how ford doesnt let you completely pick every option you want i.e. the HID head lamps, you have to get the premium AND the security package.. i hate it. lol thanks for reading all that!

Just get the base and then put your own system into it. Personally I would skip the louvers, hood and side scoops but what ever floats your boat.

Default Shaker 500

I would not get the premium package simply for the addition of the audio system. I agree with LostBoyz. If you like good sound, go with an aftermarket system.

I have the Shaker 500, and the first thing that I did was replace the factory speakers. The system sounds nice now, but the factory speakers are pretty weak.

+1,

I had the Shaker 500 in my 2005 and it's decent for what it is but the speakers are cheap construction paper type material, I'm suprised mine havent blown yet (knock on wood). I have replaced my whole headunit the Shaker in the 05-09's was a piece of crap.

thanks for the replies guys, yeah i think the hood coop and side scoop make the car look mean for a v6, and is the factory stereo unit hard to replace with an after market?

All those things^^ you can add afterwards and choose from many more styles. I'd get the base myself. As for replacing the factory stereo, it's simple. It's even more simple with the base non-shaker system.

Even with the 2010? I know the 2005-2009 is easy but the 2010-2011 looks a little more sophisticated.

I guess I am just old, because I love my shaker 500, it is plenty loud enough. But maybe that is because I prefer to hear my engine and S/C over my stereo

I did not have any issue with the volume of the system. I still have the factory head unit and amps, and am very happy with the sound now that I replaced the speakers. I just wanted more clarity than the factory speakers provided. The highs and mid tones just sounded muffled before.
