I can see you don't live in western PA with tar-chip roads and amish buggies & horses. Pick the worse of the 2 evils. Flaps or stone sandblasted underside with occasional horse manure!

I'd honestly take the slight damage then those flaps.

the idea of flaps is not an issue with me, but maybe the choice in style of flaps. Ford sells molded flaps that look a little better (not so paper-flat looking). color matched flaps is another idea.

I like it, I thought about going this route once, but opted for the GT take offs. Looks really good though!
