Default Which CAI is for me?

I have a 2006 V6 Pony Package and want to do my first performance mod. I was looking on AM at cold air intakes, and figured this would be a good place to start. There are just so many to choose from and I need a little help.

I'm sort of leaning towards the BBK Cold Air Intake AM offers for $199.99. The price isn't bad at all, and it says you don't need a tuner (which is huge for me). Does anybody have this kit, if so what do you think of it?

All CAI's do basically the same thing..And I would save up a little more and just get a Tuner too..That is where the biggest gain will come from..

Or just save up more and get a EE X Charger.

I have the BBK and the gains are minimal mainly just more throttle response, if you do get it be sure to disconnect your battery for about 30 minutes-1 hour so that your car can go into adaptive learning mode and adjust its A/F ratio so you don't get any lean engine codes. I would save up for the CAI/Tune combo either a C&L or JLT with an Xcal 3. www.americanmuscle.com has them, but if you cant afford that go for the BBK...

Yeahh, I'm going to college this yr so 200 sounds way better than 5-600 haha. I'm thinking I might do it. I heard a lot about the codes and all that. Do you unplug the neg before or after the install?

The Airaid CAI does not require a tune and will not throw any codes. Airaid is the same company that makes the Roush CAI. The performance gain with a stand alone CAI is MINIMAL, maybe (5-7 hp). With that said, in the future, be sure to get the SCT Xcal3 tuner to fully utilize the potential of your new CAI. With a custom tune, you will feel an instant increase in HP/TQ and throttle response!! =-)

A buddy of mine actually has a Roush CAI he's selling. So that might be an option too, if the price is right.

Because people want to upgrade their cars, silverstar lightbulbs why bother? Same concept, get HIDs.

And you disconnect the neg side before you install.

Hahahaa, that's a great point. Thanks for sticking up for me.

@Nuke: Some peope don't have hundreds and hundreds of dollars to spend on mods, so we do best with what we can afford now, then maybe add a tuner in the future.

I think Nukes only point is, for someone in his shoes with not alot of cash to blow, spending $200.00 on something that will barely make a difference may not be a great idea. Redfire you just said it yourself, some of us don't have hundreds to spend so like Nuke said, what's the point then? And comparing that to headlights? lol c'mon man. Since when are headlights a performance mod?

Take that $200.00 and do some appearance mod(s). Or stick it in the bank until you have enough for the combo. Or take redfire's advice and get some HID's
