Exclamation Engine Code

I have been having some rough idle problems with my car. It will jump up to 1500RPM when coasting to a stop then once at a complete stop will go to reg. idle. I cleaned the MAF, the TB (without taking it off) and putting fuel system/injector cleaner into my gas tank. All of which helped out but did not eliminate the problem.

I went to the parts store and bought a cleaner that you spray directly into the TB while it is running. There is a bendable hose that you put into the TB through the intake tube and then spray. The intake tube was not 100% sealed around the TB, there was a slight gap due to the hose delivering the cleaner. This is why I think I have a code now.

Does anyone know if running your car without a seal around the TB can cause the code or is it because of the cleaner itself?

It did the job and my car no longer has that rough idle and runs even smoother.

So the spray fixed it up? If so disconnect the negative side of your battery for about 20-30 minutes and it will get rid of that light.

Almost. I drove it for probably 5 miles or so after i did the treatment and the problem stopped. However, today it came back but not as frequent. I don't know what to do next to get rid of it. It really only happens on hot days.

I will try the battery thing today, thanks for the help.

No problem, it doesn't hurt to put the car back into learning mode by disconecting the negative...

your car tripped a code because it was sucking in air after the MAF sensor. because of the gap around the straw. as for the idle, i got nothing. sorry. let us know how it turns out.

My car does the exact same thing with the high idling when coming to a stop. I cleaned the throttle body and the MAF sensor and it still does it.

Let me know if you are able to resolve it and how. =-)

Good luck!

I heard about the TSB out on it. Who would be responsible for fixing the ECU issues? Ford?

I wanted to wait a few days of doing my daily commute to recreate my driving patterns to see if there was still a problem and there still is

It doesn't happen as often as before and in the same parts of my commute, it was like clockwork before at certain points.

Only when I pull it out of gear and coast to a light or any stop. I took it to Ford a few weeks back and they said they needed to hook my injection system up to a pump to clean the system but $400 isn't worth it to me.

I have read a lot of people with the same problem so hopefully someone will know what to do to stop it.
