I use McGuier's [sic] product... I forget the exact name... but it's like a lotion and is completely solvent free. Does a great job and you don't slide around like crazy in the seat either. In fact, I use it exclusively on the all leather Brooks saddles on my vintage bicycles as well. Keeps them shiny, clean, pliable and in some cases has even helped to "heal" minor cracks in the surface.
I'd take cloth over leather any day. I've owned over 12 cars and probably at least 10 had cloth seats and i NEVER had an issue with stains, even with 2 sons and a dog.
Nuke, you are one of very few that I know who have no problems with cloth seats not staining. I own 5 cars, two with cloth seats (I hate them) one with vinyl, one with very little leather (Mustang) and one with REAL leather seats (Conversion Van). Trust me, if you have a vehicle with good quality leather seats, you will not want to ever go back to cloth.
The cloth seats in the Focus and my work truck are terrible with stains. Simple water will stain it!
Well, see... Real leather is expensive and doesn't last as long.... So Ford and most car companies use synthetic leather now.
Who says Leather doesn't last long? Maybe an inferior quality like what's in the Mustang, but not true with all high end leathers.
Remember the old cliche, "You get what you pay for"....it's true when it comes to leather.
I have real leather seats in my 2001 Ford E-150 Conversion Van. They are very luxurious and comfortable. Very easy to keep clean and you get the whiff of leather every time you open the door.
