Re-enforcing Engine 2006 Mustang V6?
hello all, i know this question has been asked several times on other threads but all the data is incomplete or not specific... what i want to know is how can i best prepare my v6 engine for a supercharger... i know i will probably need to get forged pistons but what else would i need?? i dont just want to hear stock will work fine with low boost... i want to know exactly needs to be done to the engine to make sure it doesnt crap out on me if i put up to 12 psi on it... also what can i do to the engine to squeeze every bit of horsepower out of it without adding a supercharger to it?? i have already added cai and dual exhaust with tunes... polished heads maybe or something else?? any help you can give would be greatly appreciated... btw i do have dual exhaust 8.8 rear with 3.73 and tlok installed already...

The other thread where I posted seems to have disappeared now. So.
I run 12lbs on my Xcharger (spiking up to as high as 15 even at the track under WOT). I have done to my engine ------------------------------------ nothing, still stock upper and stock bottom.
I have 163,000 miles on this engine and ran a 12.6 last time I was at the track in November. I put the Xcharger on it when it had 90,000 miles and that was after two seasons of running a 75 shot of nitrous on the car.
The 4.0L is a pretty stout engine. The guys who have blown up usually have tried to run dual power adders (turbo and nitrous or supercharger and nitrous). Even the guys who did build up the engine with different pistons and heads/cams. As long as you don't go with dual power adders you should be good with your plans.

Anyway, I have the Xcharger Xtreme now but last year was running the non-intercooled version. Also at about 12lbs with the 2.8" pulley and never had any issues.
Since the Xtreme only came out this past year there are probably more non-intercooled than intercooled.

haha sorry i posted that from my cell phone and it auto corrected that to something completely different... i was asking for people running supercharged engines at high psi(10psi or more) are you running it with an intercooler or without an intercooler?
also will running an intercooled supercharger get me more hp and torque??

100,000 miles on my X-XCharger and 130,000 miles on the engine. Running around 11-12 psi, Just upgraded to the intercooler a few months ago. I am not easy on this engine at all and do open track and autocross with no issues at all. Some of the open track sessions last up to 45 minutes of full on and off throttle unlike the drag racers that are just on it for 12 seconds or so. Also daily full throttle runs onto the freeway on the way to work. My engine is bone stock other than the X-Charger Xtreme.
