Default Cooling fan problem

I put my 2005 v6 pony in the ditch and the cooling fan stopped working.

The fuse was burnt so I replaced it, still no go.

I went and bought a new fan motor and when i went to replace it I tested my old fan, it powers fine with 12v.

How do I test the relays?

There is a weird green coil thing with a resistor attached to it that attaches to the shroud/fan body and then a plug goes out from it to the fans power input plug. Could this be toast?

I found the relays however have no DMM to test them. I could replace them if they are cheap I just see no reason why they are dead. I dont understand why the fan isnt working. Could the temperature sensor be shot because my car overheated? Could that green coil thing connected inbetwee the relays and the fans power input be shot? I doubt NAPA would stock that item...

Edit: Tested the relays and they are fine. This is really confusing. If the fan was fine the whole time how come it wouldnt turn on after going in the ditch... makes you wanna pull your hair out.
