Default 2007 Style GT500 Wheel Fitment and tire pressure?

bought 4 set of these from AM. Installed'em and they look nice but the thing is that the front tires makes contact when i turn the steering wheel all way. just have to losen it a bit to prevent that. is that ok? i mean it's not like i do such turns occasionally.

and should I adjust the tire pressure according to the recommended pressure from the door, 35? it's set at 45 rite now

If you went from 17's to 18's then you need the bump stops. I'm not sure of the part number but they're listed on the Ford Parts catalog if you look up their wheel selection. I assume by making contact you mean a little rubbing but a bit of that shouldn't hurt anything. And the door placard calls for 32 PSI...

45 PSI? Wayyyyy too high. Typically, anything beyond 35 PSI will rip your liver out and your contact patch at highway speeds will be reduced. I usually play with my tire pressure and rarely run more than 34 PSI. 32-33 is where I keep mine but it depends a lot on the tire and your handling preferences.

Try steering rack stops.

Here's a link to some:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/roush-...ack-stops.html

Trying to decide if I need some...I can feel the wheels rubbing the fender every time I do a U-Turn. I've never felt them rubbing on the road, though.

I believe the recommended tire pressure is like 35 PSI. I think that's what it says on the door jamb, although I could be wrong.

ok i think i found it...ford mustang steering stops (part# 6R3Z-3932-CA)

dunno if it's really needed. it just restrict full turn movement to prevent tire rub which happens when installing a larger wheel size

and yes 35 psi is the recommended pressure. that's what it says on the door jamb

The door jam on my g/f's '06 V6 says 32 PSI so that's what I quoted. Interesting that it's higher on later models. I didn't bother to pull the cover off my '07 GT but I think it also says 32.

The replacement bump stops are optional from what I've seen. I'd make it a low priority as long as as I wasn't turning to full lock frequently.

If the placard says 35 PSI, then I'd experiment in 1 PSI increments, going both up and down about 3 PSI from there until I feel what works for me. That's pretty much what I do on all of my vehicles since each one has it's own handling characteristics along with each tire model being different.

And don't forget that your tire pressure will change about 1 PSI for every 10 degree F change.

My old ride was an 06 V6 as well, and the recommended tire pressure was 35 PSI.
