Default taillight problem...

i have an 06 v6...today the middle bulb in one of the taillights stopped working as far as blinking while the turn signal is on but stays lit up after the car is turned off. when i first noticed it i just hit the brake pedal and the bulb went out. Later on when i would lock the car with the key fob the light would just stay on for no reason. I already changed the one bulb, could this problem be from the passenger side leak or what. It has been raining in the area a lot the past few days. Anyway i had to unhook the battery and let it sit. Has anyone else had this problem?

Our cars do some weird things when the battery is low... Try the batt. reset and if that doesn't work then try changing it? Anyway, take a look at the wiring for anything frayed/out of the ordinary.

Sorry if this isn't helpful but I've never run into this problem before myself.

i got new battery for it in december...i've had to change both of the middle bulbs in the past. this time the bulb would still light up, just not flash when i had hazards or turn signal on, and then just not go off after cutting the engine. where is the battery reset or do you just mean unhook it and then back on?

yeah I meant unhook for about 20 mins, sorry for vagueness. Anyway, it sounds like you are having a problem with the wiring(pinched wires) or maybe the socket? My old camry had moisture leaking into the taillights due to a messed up seal between the taillight and socket, maybe this is affecting your car too? Or it may be a grounding issue? Sorry if this isn't helping man.

Sounds like the water leak and SJB corrosion problem to me.
Check your pass side carpet and pad for any signs of
water intrusion.
Then search 'water leak' in the S197 section.

Yeah i've had the water leak for a few years now...seems like its gotten worse here lately. I ended up changing both middle bulbs on the taillights and they work normal now, but its prolly b/c the electronics dryed off after days of storming or who knows. I also changed the cabin air and fuel filter today...so not bad.

If you have the water leak and haven't dealt with it, things will just get worse.

Electronics corrode when powered up until they dry out.
Then when they get wet again, the
whole process happens again until
the corrosion builds up enough to win.
It sounds like you have lost by not
addressing the problems years ago....
