ORIGINAL: Steven6095

Hello. I am having a fit with my factory V6 tires in the rain.
Wet traction seems horrible even with traction control enabled.

All the "reviews' I read about the tire says that they are great in rain.
What is going on? Most reviews are on camerys etc.

Asking opinions from other Mustang owners.

My other car is a Saturn with Toyo 800 Ultras. Driving it you can not even tell the roads are wet!

Am I just not used to this heavy of a car in the rain or are others not impressed with the factory rubber?

Thanks
Steven
Can you tell us what the brand and size your stockers are?
BFGoodrich 16" or Pirelli 17"?
BFGoodriches spin and spin.
The Pirellis are better and get the horsepower to the ground asap.
The BFGoodrichs are a joke with 210HP.

IMOPirellis suck. I had to replace the front 2 withGoodyear because they had flat spots on them and made the car shimmy slightlyaround 60mph. I got nowhere with Dealer, Pirelli or Ford. I have Goodyear on front & the Pirellis are OK on the rear.

You can get a set of the stock Pirellis from New take off places on the internet. They are a lot cheaper then buying new ones retail.

Stangs have a lot more power than the other cars they probably rated the factory tires on, so i am not suprised at poor wet performance.

My stock tires spin easily in the rain all the time.

Of course I have a lead foot so maybe it's me. [8D]

I'm hoping to get new rims and tires when the stock ones wear out, but my preferred rims are gonna cost me about $1400 alone and the tires an additional $1000 so it's probably gonna be a miracle if I get what I really want.

Steven 6095 , You mentioned that you were going to replace the stock tires with 245/50 . They are not really recommended . The more direct size would be a 245/55 .

first thing i did was replace my stocks with 20"s and BFG's KDWS. those things are sick grip in any condition (except i havent had them in snow yet) and look amazing to boot. the tread looks like a snakeskin pattern, but those things were expensive, they actually cost me more than my wheels. lol. but they are definitey worth it.

and to ILLEGALSTEALTH dont call them BADriches, any tire can be s h i t t y. theyre made to be for stock cars that arent intended to be driven hard. My BFGoodriches are made for speed and grip, just because the stock tires arent doesnt mean the company doesnt make good stuff.
