Default 2011 V6 for my 2007 GTI

Hey guys,

I am thinking of getting back into a Mustang. They have some pretty sweet incentives on the 2011s. I am looking at getting a 2011 base, manual transmission, performance package (if I can find one). I would be replacing a 2007 VW GTI with 6 speed manual. Anyone done this swap, any thoughts?

I had a 2007 Eos 2.0t Sport with APR stage 2 programming, downpipe, HHR springs. It was a pretty sweet ride until the top started giving me problems. Anyway, I like the mustang much better for the power hook up since the rear end can handle the power unlike a fwd car like the GTI. I really enjoy how much better manners it has but is very quick and goes around corners well too. If you really liked the GTI interior, you may be a little disappointed with a base mustang, and may want to consider a premium pkg, the perf pkg is definitely worth the money if you can find one. But if you can't there are alot of aftermarket options, so don't worry.

There are a lot of problems with the manual trans in the 2011 Stang, I'd get an auto.

I haven't had any problems. The forums tend to magnify small issues. IMO the auto sucks especially since you can't control what it's doing and it's set up for fuel economy not performance and there is no way to switch modes. So in that regard it can't hold a candle to the VW DSG auto with paddle shifters etc. The transmission used in the v6 is the same one used in the 5.0 so it can handle a lot of power and future upgrades if you like.

Ford did a much better job of putting some power in the 2011, I am however not a fan of the body style, I am biased to the 05-09 style, but I believe you will be satisfied with the switch

I have driven a 2007 GTI with about $5k of powermods and it was a nice ride but with my 2005 V6 auto, I could beat him off the line and to ~55 every time.Highway pulls where his turbo was spooled where his only real sweet spots. had 3 VW's before my 05 and I am glad I made the change. The only car I would take of my V6 (which makes far less power than the 2011 V6) is my 03 W8 back, but then again all of my VW's had tons of problems, my friends GTI had the same issue as my W8 and the cams seized. My Mustang hasn't had any problems.

An 11 may be a challenge, but the 12's are here..... black one manual 21,992 at Jarrett Ford in Winter Haven Florida. Take the plunge..... you'll be happy and check the credit unions for super low loan rates. 2.99 a.p.r. at my local c.u.

Found a 2011 in Performance White with Performance Package, Security Package, nothing else, about as cheap as I could expect to find.
