hey guys-

after dinking around in some other cars I deff want a short throw in my pony... but my question becomes which kit to buy... Hurst, Ford Racing, and Steeda all make kits but which is best!

Best is generally considered to be the MGW. Cost a bit more but super smooth. I will be switching from my Pro 5.0 throw to the MGW soon. Hurst are quick but definately notchy and nowhere near as solid as the Pro 5.0 when slamming gears. Never used a FRPP or Steeda before but I imagine they would be good.

MGW typically gets the top vote but it's also the most expensive.

On the V6 I'd recommend a tranny fluid change with synthetic fluid of your choice (I went with Pennzoil Synchromesh). Biggest bang for your buck I swear, wish I would have done mine sooner than I did. And it's as easy as changing your engine oil.

As for a STS I went with the Saleen kit. It's a fraction of the price and is great IMHO. I've had the Hurst and liked the notchy/defined shift to it but the rattle that came with it drove me up the wall. https://mustangforums.com/forum/2005...s-and-vid.html

I've had the Hurst and the MGW. The Hurst will never miss a shift but mine rattled incessantly and drove me nuts. The MGW is not quite as precise; however, it is very quiet and looks much more appealing. If you can hang with the possible rattle (apparantly not everyone experiences this with the Hurst) then go with that. MGW was worth the extra green IMO.

Oh yeah, I've got the Hurst and love it. It does rattle but only at 4500+ rpm, and at that speed I'm only hearing the X Charger. Do get the K-member and torque limiters though, that will make a big difference. The notchy thing isn't the shifters by the way, it's the **** tranny.

Although I do agree most of the notchiness is the T5 as mine did it with the stock shifter, I believe with any short throw really you will notice is notchy... With my TR3650 and MGW it is notchy...

Q about the Saleen unit... how is the installation, does it void the warranty? +1 for cost effectiveness...also does changing the trany fuel impact a warranty?
