Default wiring help - map light

ok so i bought some interior leds for the car and i have them all set up and wires ready to connect to positive and ground.. but im stuck on where to put the positive for the way i want the set up to work. I would like the leds to only turn on when the doors open and turn off when the door close.. but ive tried tapping into every wire in the map light dome and it seems none of them will give me that set up.. two of the wires keep the leds on constantly.. and the other one or two wires turn the leds on when the doors are closed and map lights are off and then turns the leds off when the doors open and map lights turn on. DO you guys have any idea or diagrams where i can find out how to wire everything correctly for the way i want it set up..
Thanks

well i dont have a wiring diagram, but i did it last year. i have led's in the footwell's on passenger and driver side. I wanted them to work just like my MAP light (on when doors open or when i turned the MAP light on)

I tapped into the positive wire that comes from the "on/off" switch and everything works fine still.

are you talking about the on off switch in the dimmer control or the on off switch in the overhead console for the map lights themselves.. and if for the map light switch in the overhead console, which wire exactly did u tap?

Use a multi meter and find out which wire is hot when the door is open.

ok i used a multi meter on the two locations and heres what i found.
the top image is the on off dimmer switch and the lower images are the map light console

so it doesnt make sense.. it seems one wire should go positive when the doors open and one when it goes negative... but its the opposite.

unless....... the orange wire acts as the ground for the light and when the doors are closed theres voltage in the wire so it doesnt complete the circuit for the light but when the doors open it cuts off the voltage on the orange wire and completes the circuit for the light... but im not the big electrician so im not sure if thats even possible for two positives to be connected to the light when the doors are closed.

Check the foot well fuse panel. I've read of people hooking them up the way you want them. I can't quite remember but i think they just tapped one of the fuses there. With a volt meter you can check them.

I don't know if you are trying to wire some extra map lights, or you are doing what I did a few months back but if you are doing footwell lighting then I can help out a little hopefully.

Below is a tutorial 07blackgt did a while back on wiring some footwell lighting, and it turns on along with your map lights/when you unlock your car. Basically, it turns on when you turn on your running/head lights. (if you go the route below, make sure you have a shut-off switch otherwise your LEDs will come on everytime you turn on your headlights)

https://mustangforums.com/forum/2005...ighting-2.html

Short story: Tap into the headlight controls, the yellow wire was the same for me (might be different for you idk) but just hit it with a DMM to verify.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Try tapping that Orange wire, worst case scenario your car spontaneously combusts...most likely not tho.

Its not set up like you have it drawn.

Wrap your head around that diagram from the workshop manual
and go from there...

12V is constant from the SJB to the overheads.
The SJB sinks (or provides ground) to turn on the
overheads as does the individual 'manual' switches
in the overhead.

I tapped into a wire on the SJB and stayed away from the
overhead...
Connector 2280F on SJB PIN 25 LITE GREEN / YELLOW
But this same wire can be found on
Connector 930 PIN 4 LITE GREEN / YELLOW
in the overhead.

ps you might want to use the "ENTER" key once in a while as your
text runs off my screen making it very difficult to read and understand...
