Default Running Vortech without intercooler

Anyone ever run one without the intercooler? Is it dangerous for the engine? Can you even run one without an intercooler? Just curious.

Thanks

Might as well run a giant heater blower right into your motor, because that's exactly what it is. A Hot Air Intake

I ran a non-intercooled set up for a summer and it sucked ***.. it's only fun for about the first 10 minutes, than it gets hot and timing gets pulled = no boost.

I shiet you not, I ran 13.5s all day long with it at the track.. I was running 13.3 NA.

Now I am at 12.5@111mph, 12.0@113mph if I can get my 60 ft. down...

Intercooled@10 psi, 90 octane.

GET THE INTERCOOLED KIT.. TRUST ME!

Yea the Vortech without the intercooler is like what Stealth said. Basically blowing hot compressed air into your motor. And trust me it gets hot under that hood, ideally you are going to want an intercooler. I'm gonna tell you what everyone told me, if you're going to do it. Do it right the first time and get the intercooler.

...wonder who told you that? ah, ok.
yeah, using an intercooler is something you dont have to do right away, but should plan on doing eventually or as soon as you can. You'll be able to get more power with an intercooled setup.

shiet.. even with the intercooler, a few hot lapped runs and it gets hot.. but the difference is that I can still pull 12.7@108mph (intercooled 10 psi)vs 13.8@105mph(non-intercooled 8 psi ). Not that I condone hot lapping... NOTHING beats a nice fat intercooler with a centri. Unless of course you're running meth injection, but that's a different story

Which heat exchanger are you running? I am running a Saleen heat exchanger right now but thinking about moving up to a Afco GT500 heat exchanger. Its at least twice the size of my saleen!

I am running Paxton's air to air set up, almost 100% positive that an air/water set up is superior in terms of cooling consistency, I chose the air/air due to simplicity.

If you want the coolest charge possible, that AFCO with the dual fans is the way to go.. IF I get the Roush R2300 set up, that's my first mod

Guys with over driven Roush M90's SWEAR by that heat exchanger.. we all know how hot those lil screamers get lol
