Are you guys sure its completely fail proof? Being so close to where you fill it with fuel I would be worried about the electronics sparking or something..

Interesting but I think I'll stick with using my fob as I'm walking up the car instead of having to open the gas door and hit in a code. Sorry, but just don't understand the point of that.

I would avoid RFID at all costs. Especially if it's one of the standard Hz ranges.

The reason why is it's so easy to copy those cards.

I won't claim to have done this. but let's just say in a totally hypothetical situation, a young engineering student such as myself could assemble a copier and re-programmer that works with a jailbroken iphone, and all he has to do is bump into you "accidentally" and steal the RFID code, and reprogram a cheap RFID card (I got mine for $4.99) and your car goes bye-bye. whole process could take less than a minute.

Though all my experience is with room keys like for hotels/dorms, It's probably very similar if not identical.

This isn't to replace the fob, it has a lot of useful applications. I found this device incredibly useful when: I go to the beach, I can lock my keys in my car; On long car trips, I can lock my dog in the car with the ignition on while I run in to take a leak at the rest stops; I go to a nice restaurant or party where I don't want to have keys jingling around my pockets. Or if I locked my keys in the cab or trunk (yes this code also opens the trunk). A locksmith costs at least $80, so even if you locked your keys in ONCE in the entire life of the car, this will pay for itself.

I locked my keys... And coat... In the car... At night... When it was -15 outside... On the wrong side of town.

Yeah this sounds useful lol

I still think it'd be cooler to have one of those things like James Bond did where he could drive his car with a PS3. Just sayin... Lol
