Default Silver pony in center of stock grille.

Anyone know how to remove it? getting a black bullitt grill to cover my stock one but i don't want you to be able to see it at all through it. Any ideas on how to remove it?

Do you have the new grill yet? If not, it's almost easier to take the old grill out and replace it, rather than doing the overlay style. From what I've heard, it's almost impossible to take the pony off the grill without breaking either the pony or the grill itself. Plus I think it looks better than the overlay, keeps it's same recessed dept. Just my opinion.

I don't think there is a way to take the pony off...when you take off the stock grille and look behind it, the pony is held in with these plastic bolts..once you pop it out, it's basically broken. Just do what I did, buy the pony delete grille and cut out the honeycomb and center, leaving only enough for the screws to go through..can't see any of the stock grille now.

Hmm im not sure what you mean by cutting the honeycomb, like cut how much of it? pretty much all of it right? I don't mind really if the pony breaks

yeah, you're gonna want to get a dremel and cut out the pony first, then go around all the hollow honey comb, cut it out until you reach the part that is all connected. (the sides..it's the honey comb that is filled in basically) leave a little at the top of the grille as well so the new grille can bolt into it. if it sounds confusing, sorry..not really good at explaining it.

Cutting out the solid parts of the honeycomb, such as from this:

to this:

I used a drill bit and drilled a 1/4" hole in each of the solid sections, then a coping saw to cut out the honey combs.

It's easy to take the old grill out, it just snaps in place. Use a couple of plastic spoons, like a body shop uses ($6 from Harbor Freight) to move the tabs without scratching the paint.

Speed clips hold it on.
You bust the speed clips with needle nose pliers and the pony pops off.
No need to damage anything besides the speed clips.
New speed clips will be needed to reinstall the pony.
