Temporary mobility kit/12v air compressor
Hello guys,
I just picked up my 2012 v6 and was going through the manual messing with all the goodies, when I got to the 12v compressor (in lieu of the spare on performance package cars). I thought a good way to check it out would be to check the tire pressure using the instructions in the manual (and on the card with the pump). Long story short, I can't get the switch on top of the pump to rotate to 'air' (it was on 'sealant' when I pulled it out of the trunk). I don't want to turn it on in sealant mode and waste the canister (and make a mess), but I also don't want to break it trying to get the switch to turn...
Am I just being thick, or might there be a problem with the pump?
Thanks for the help guys,
Ryan

Mine was very hard to turn the first time I tried it out, you do need to push the rotary switch to get it to turn. btw, there are 2 hoses, one is for the pump, the other is for the tire sealant. Tire sealant will ruin the tire pressure sensor. I keep a plug type patch kit in my trunk, I've had pretty good luck with them.

I brought the car by the dealer this afternoon, and after three Ford techs had looked at it we decided that the air compressor cannot be used without using the sealant can first. For what it's worth, one of the techs even owns one of these Mustangs and just said he was glad he never had to figure out his compressor. I was hoping that the compressor could be used without the sealant step, but I'm still not really sure how it works.
Chromeshadow, have you used your compressor sans sealant?

Go to walmart and pick up a portable air compressor for under $15. That's what I use, makes a great emergency filler-upper.
FWIW, if you blow out a tire and sealant cant seal it (such as a rip along the sidewall 3" long), then you're f'd without a spare.
