Default Gearing

I've been pondering making the switch to 3.73:1 gears, and well, they make a kit for the 7.5" rear end, but i was wondering if the stock rear axle could handle the torque. I saw the kit w/ T-lok at www.supersixmotorsports.com. I was wondering if anyone has done the gearing on theirs, or knows about gearing could help me out with what all would be involved. My friend is telling me i have to change out my rear-end for an 8.8" setup. Maybe get the GT rearend or something. Well If anyone knows something about the subject matter I would appreciate the info, and I'm sure everyone here would be able to benefit from the info as well.

I wouldn't rush into changing to a 8.8 rear yet... what do you plan on doing with your car? What kind of mods? The 7.5 with Track-Lock is pretty sturdy... As long as you don't go crazy with the HP/TQ and don't plan on running slicks... I've had mine in since Mid-August and have been pretty hard on it... I just put the Zex in last week... We'll see how everything hold up.. but from what I've read and what people have told me... I should be ok...

Yes, but can the 7.5" rear end handle the torque that the 3.73 gears put out?

I'm running a set of 4.10s, a Ford Trac-Lock diff and some big 265/60/16 BFGs... My torque on the dyno last week was 321 ft/lbs at the wheel... I made about 6 passes at the track last night... The 7.5 did fine... no problems...
