Default 2012 v6 - First upgrades?

Was able to trade in my 07 v6 with the trade in offer covering the rest of my loan and a down payment on the new car to get a '12 v6. Wanted a GT but I'm under 25 so the insurance was a bitch, plus the payments were just a bit outside my budget at the moment.

Its performance white with the charcoal cloth interior and the exterior package. Getting the pedestal spoiler installed by ford for free. Basically someone saw me drive up in my 07 and was immediately interested so they got me a nice deal on the car with the free installation on the spoiler. Can't complain about that. Thar car is basically a '12 that never sold so its still in brand new condition. I'll put up pics when I get it tonight or tomorrow afternoon.

Anyways, I'm just curious as to what upgrades I should be getting first. No HID lights was a bummer so that'll most likely be the first thing I get, through the rest of the upgrades will be performance based.

Is there anything I should swap out or upgrade on the car immediately?

Congrats. The first performance upgrade should be a CAI and tuner combo. Then after that you should upgrade the gears. What rear gear ratio does it have?

For mine it was ~$425. And the gears were ~$500 on StangMods. I had to buy the T-lok, but I think yours already has that so it should be cheaper just buying the gears.

Before you start on the mods determine your overall plans for the car. A tune is always a good idea, do you need a gear change though? That depends upon what your plan is and how you will use the car. Once you know that you can plan the mods out appropriately.

For example on my car. I know that I will be going to a turbo. So I bought a tuner and tunes, but not a CAI. Why? Because I won't need it in the end because I will have to fabricate a different intake for the turbo so it would be wasted money for me. I also have studied the gear ratios and what others have done and determined what gears will be best for the turbo - including for track and street duty. If I jumped to a 4.10 gear that would be the wrong gear down the road and I'd have to pay to take them out and swap to the proper gear (in my case I've determined that 3.55 is the max).

If you don't have an idea where you are going you can end up spending money on mods that you later just have to remove because they aren't right for your end plan. Buy with the end goal in mind.

Jim is correct and makes some very good points. For me the 3.73 gears are a good fit but almost too much for highway driving. And I just installed a SuperCharger so now I have my old JLT CAI in a box for now. :-)

Its the base model with 2.73 gears. For the deal I got I can get everything I need through AM and pay far less than what the dealer options were charging.

I do eventually want to turbo the car, but that wont be until 2-3 years from now most likely. School comes first so I still have a few grand to pay off.

I'm thinking gears, a tuner and a full borla exhaust for now. How does the atak system sound on these cars? I heard these engines sound a hell of a lot better than on the 05-10 v6.

fml... The car got hit by hail last night from the storm in TX. No idea how bad it is yet, they called and asked me to come look at it after work and weren't willing to tell me much over the phone.

I don't understand why they didn't put a sold car in the garage when they knew a bad storm was coming.
