Default 2006 transmission glitch

Hey Guys,

The last couple of months I've been having some trouble with my 06 v6 auto trans. I will go to start it and shift into (any gear) and I will get no engagement. It just feels like I shifted the car into neutral. I can shift through the gears and back to park several times but still not get it to engage. I even try turning the car off and back on but still nothing. The only way I can get it to engage into any gear is to basically floor it and get the rpms up and it will jerk into gear kinda violently so I don't like doing it at all.

I went to Ford, but they couldn't get the trans to act this way while they had it. They did an inspection and found nothing wrong.

If anyone can point me in the right direction of where to look that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Any codes? Did you get a trans flush? Does it do it when is cold or hot? Next time it does it. Put it on neutral and rev it to 2500 rpm. Let the rpm drop then shift it to 1st 2 3 etc... Then to drive. Let me know what happens? Be advice not to neutral bomb this trans. Let the rpm drop before you shift.

What you're doing when you rev it up and shift, you're damaging your trans.

No codes, yes on the trans flush this June a trans shop flushed the trans and changed the filter while they were trying to find this problem they also tried to replace a solenoid in the trans, but it didn't fix the problem. It seems to happen on a cold start, but lately it has been happening on both cold and hot. Also I should mention it used to happen every couple weeks now it has become a few times a week.

Thanks for the advise I will try it next time it happens.

Ok It happened again tonight. I tried reving to 2500 letting it drop and then shifting 1 2 3 and then Drive but still nothing.

Could it have something to do with the electronic linkage or does it sound internal?

Are you saying you have been doing "neutral drops"? (i.e. take up the rpm's in neutral and then slam it into gear?) If so that may be your problem - neutral drops will kill it off.

No, I haven't been neutral dropping it, I tried bringing rpms up to 2500 in N and letting them drop down then shifting to 1 2 3 and D but im getting nothing. Looks like i'll need a tow.

So you can't shift on all gears?
Can you manually shift to 1st 2nd 3 4
Downshift?
Reverse?
Describe noise and jerkness for every gear if it accours.
Sounds like you have an internal fault that no solenoid is going to fix if you can't shift in all gears. "The only way I can get it to engage into any gear is to basically floor it and get the rpms up and it will jerk into gear kinda violently" As long as you let the rpm drops while in neutral, is not a neutral bomb.

Got the car towed to a local trans shop, they say it is internal. They mentioned a pump gone bad in the trans, I will get details tomorrow.

currently looking for used trans
