Default Actual Push to Start?

I was wondering if there were any way to modify the American Muscle Push button start to a secret toggle switch somewhere else in the car? This way teh push button start would only work if you flipped the other switch wherever you placed it? I think it would be even cooler if you could modify the switch to not have to use the key, but i think that would require serious modification. Any suggestions?

Not require a key to start the vehicle? Not the smartest idea in my book.

Well thats what the other hidden switch would be for incase anyone broke in. Kind of a killswitch but not exactly. It could be hidden in the console under that little piece that pops out on the left of the 12V connector.

Technically, if took one of the live wires from the push button start and put a switch on it, then the push button would not work unless the switch is on (i.e. the wire you tapped into is connected again). As far as removing the key from the equation, that would be more difficult. However, it is essentially a switch as well. When the key is in and "on" the switch is activated. You would just have to bypass the "on" position and run it to the new switch so when it is turned on, the car is "on" and the push button would work.

Actually, this seems like a really neat idea. Best of luck, keep us posted.

I would not go with that as the install instructions are
posted right there for all to see.
I have already figured out how to by-pass that system
just from reading the install instructions...

Plus the picky PATS chip that is in the key that the
PCM WANTS to see a few seconds after the engine starts...
If no PATS chip, the engine promptly dies...

ByPassing anti-theft invites joy riding and theft.
Be glad your Stang cannot be hot wired by 99.99999999999%
of the US population (unless the criminal works at
a Ford dealership).
