My wife's '06 V6 got worse mileage than my GT; about 16 MPG. But be aware that the onboards on the 05's thru 10's are known to generally be inaccurate, off by about 1-2 MPG (but often to the conservative side). Although the onboard is good for RELATIVE average fuel mileage, you really need to hand calculate AND reset the onboard at each fill-up.

Have you reset the mpg counter since buying the car?
Also, it might not be too accurate, so it may be better to fill up your car, reset the trip counter and then when you go to fill up again, note the amount of miles you traveled, how many gallons you put in and then divide the miles by gallons...

I did this for the first few weeks, but then decided that I'm driving he car for fun and working out mpg isn't as much fun as using the gas.

You mentioned a Diablo chip? I wasn't aware they made those for S197 models?
Most members on the forum have a CAI and handheld tuner with custom tunes made specifically for their car and mods. American Muscle and Brenspeed are very reputable companies that offer CAI/Custom tune combos.
In refernece to lowering springs, I have the Eibach Pro-kit springs and am very satisfied with them. The Eibach Pro-kit springs lower 1.5" on rear and 1.3" on front.
Also, a black chin spoiler would add a nice aggressive touch to the front of your Stang!

Nice find Rggonz! Yo found a great deal and seems to have a some solid mods too.

As these guys mentioned, you should consider getting a Bama custom tune for you Diablo Sport tuner, too. Then you'll be enrolled into our Free Tunes for Life program, in case you add anymore mods down the road.

Give me a shout if you have any questions!

The 20" wheels absolutely trash mpg. More rotational mass = More power (gas) needed to spin the wheels = lower mpg, especially if you have a lead foot.

Thing is the majority of the people with a s197 run on 20's and they get good mileage. When i filled up my tank it said 322 till E, i let it run to 3 till E and i noticed that i only put about 150 on the mileage.

Default MPG

As someone said, it might be in your driving style and I will add tire tread design. The only add on I have done is a S&B CAI. The BF Goodrich touring tires that originally came with the car had tread designed for mpg with stiff sidewall for cornering. I also have the Pony Pkg. I have replacement tires that are Firestone FR710, 225/R60-16 designed for a little softer ride and with tread design for best MPG. With auto transmission it is 21.2 city and 28. 6 Hwy. I have reached 30.3 on the interstate with cruise set at 72. My 4.0L Mustang is the very BASE model with only the Pony package added.

Another note: My basically stock machine vs any with a chip added,
dual exhaust, CAI, gears, you might have a 6 foot
advantage in the Qtr, if that with you 6 cyl.

Ask someone on the forum and they'll be happy to instruct you on how to determine your true average fuel mileage.
