Console trunk release button question

Console trunk release button question
On my 2014 v6 premium convertible the trunk release button on the console will still work when the key is not in the ignition. Anybody know if there is a work around?
It does disable the switch when I lock the doors, but would really rather it be disabled unless the ignition is on.

After a whole bunch of people complained about not having an inside trunk release button, Ford added one. We wanted something to open it without having to dig for keys, or find the blue button on the fob. Many cars have some sort of secondary way of opening trunk/hatch this way. some have cables, some have push buttons. Disabling it would defeat its purpose for the majority.
I'm sure it can be rewired to work only if ignition is on as you would like it to, but that defeats the reason it was installed in the first place.

Trunk Release Button and locking up the Stang.
I have a 2014 V-6 Mustang Convertible and was leery of leaving it in parking lots with the top down because anyone could lean in and pop the trunk with my possessions in it. I didn't bother locking the car figuring that if the top was down they could get in anyway. Then I read in the manual that when the top was down and you locked it with either the door lock or key fob, it deactivated the console trunk release. However if leaving the top up but the windows down, to keep it cooler, you cannot deactivate the trunk button so someone could lean in and pop it open.
I also worry about using the fob to lock up because so many people say that others can scan it when you do and get in to your car when you've left it. So I use the door switch to lock up. I guess unlocking it in a parking lot with the fob is ok unless someone scanned it and followed you to your next stop.

I like the PB I installed in my 07 Vert - but I installed it in the glove box that I can lock if I leave the top down. I agree that having it 'live' begs for someone to push it and get into the trunk.
You could install a separate relay which is powered by the ACC circuit. The PB now works by 'shorting' the powered line to ground and you can't (probably) change where this is fed from. An interposing relay would work for you. Find a ACC power source and get a small 12v relay. When ACC is on, the relay would be energized. Then wire the Normally Open (NO) contact in series with the wires going to the PB.
